My story
I found my way from marketing plans to painted possibility.
I’m Shivani Khanna Vohra, a self-taught artist, lifelong explorer, and the person behind Brushed Serenity.
Artist portrait coming soon
I was born and raised in India and moved to the United States more than two decades ago, carrying with me a love of color, culture, travel, and the small visual details that make a place unforgettable.
For approximately twenty years, I built a career in marketing. It taught me how stories connect with people, but over time I felt a growing pull toward a different kind of storytelling—one made with paint, texture, instinct, and my own hands.
I do not have a formal art degree. I learned by trying, making mistakes, looking closely, starting again, and allowing curiosity to become my teacher. That freedom continues to shape my work. I move between landscapes, florals, abstraction, spiritual imagery, wildlife, and travel-inspired scenes because exploration is part of the process.
My studio is my sanctuary. I paint with music playing, fragrance sticks or candles nearby, and enough quiet to lose track of time. Some paintings begin with a memory. Others begin with a color combination, a photograph from a journey, or a feeling I cannot quite express in words.
I am endlessly inspired by nature—the stillness of a winter forest, the movement of flowers in wind, the impossible colors of a geothermal spring, the way light finds an opening in stone. I am equally inspired by family, friendship, and the idea that art can hold connection as powerfully as it holds beauty.
Brushed Serenity is where those explorations come together. My hope is simple: that each painting brings a little more calm, joy, energy, or wonder into the room—and continues to reveal something new over time.
With gratitude,
Shivani Khanna Vohra
